Shhhh

I need a quiet mind. I don't understand how my head can move like molasses all day long and leap into overdrive at the mere suggestion of a pillow.

Read a mindless, guilty pleasure type novel for at least 10-15 minutes before bed. It helps to escape from yourself for a bit.

I've actually read about one type of meditation where you simply observe the thoughts that pass through your mind. I'm not sure if it has a name, but it seems like "stepping outside" the chatter without trying to hold it back may help...or at least be interesting! I know the feeling you mean. I doubt there's one sure-fire trick that'd work for everyone, but I hope you can find one that works for you!
